Plumber's Assistant / Apprentice Track RH Shudy Plumbing | Mount Prospect, IL | Full time About us RH Shudy Plumbing has served Chicago's North Shore and Northwest Suburbs since 1987. We're a family-run shop, not a call center with trucks. Every job has our name on it, and we do it right the first time. The opportunity This is a paid, hands-on path into a licensed plumbing career. You'll work side by side with Bob Shudy, our founding licensed plumber, learning the trade the way it should be learned: in the field, on real jobs, with someone who's been doing it for nearly 40 years. After six months to a year of solid work, we sponsor you as a registered plumbing apprentice with the State of Illinois and back you through the program. We're not looking for a warm body to carry tools for a season. We're looking for someone we can build into a licensed plumber. What you'll do Assist with installing, repairing, and maintaining water supply and drain systems, pipes, and fixtures including sinks, toilets, faucets, water heaters, and shower valves Prep and close out job sites: protect the work area, stage tools and materials, clean up so the customer can't tell we were there Learn the fundamentals under supervision: pipe cutting, threading, soldering, fixture setting, basic drain work Keep tools and truck stock organized, accounted for, and in working order Follow safety procedures and Illinois plumbing code on every job Represent us well in customers' homes with a clean appearance and straight answers What we're looking for Genuine interest in plumbing as a career, not just a job between jobs Hands-on background of some kind: construction, maintenance, handyman work, auto, HVAC, or serious DIY experience Comfortable lifting 80 lbs, working in crawl spaces and basements, and being on your feet all day Valid Illinois driver's license and a clean driving record Shows up on time, takes direction, takes feedback, and asks questions when unsure Reliable transportation to our Mount Prospect shop No formal plumbing experience required. We'll teach you the trade. You bring the work ethic.
