Job Description

Plumbing Technician - Modular Construction Job Overview Working under the direction of the Master Plumber, the Plumbing Technician installs, maintains, and inspects pipes, valves, fittings, fixtures, and drainage systems in off-site modular housing units and production facility infrastructure. This role collaborates with skilled trades in a fast-paced assembly line setting, referencing shop drawings and tracking progress via the Offsight platform. Key Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and layout schematics to layout plumbing and drainage systems. Measure, cut, join, and install piping (PVC, CPVC, PEX, copper, cast iron), valves, drains, and fixtures compliant with local building codes. Perform routine system inspections, pressure testing, diagnostic troubleshooting, and rapid-response repairs. Safely operate, clean, and maintain trade hand and power tools; report damaged equipment to supervisors immediately. Assist with general unit production tasks and support team assembly operations as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements Education & Experience:
High School Diploma/GED required; minimum of 3 years of experience in plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair within the building trades required.
Certifications:
Plumbing certification or trade training preferred.
Technical Skills:
Blueprint/shop drawing comprehension, material expertise (PVC, CPVC, PEX, copper, cast iron), measurement conversions, basic math, and proficiency with hand/power tools and diagnostic equipment.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift 50 lbs independently; frequent standing, walking, squatting, climbing, reaching, and working in/under large overhead structures.
Work Environment:
Factory assembly line environment with noise, temperature fluctuations, and moving machinery.
Workplace Dress Code Permitted:
Knee-length shorts, work pants/jeans, and short- or long-sleeve shirts.
Prohibited:
Tank tops, muscle shirts, shorts shorter than knee-length, sweatpants, and yoga pants. Compliance with dress code standards is mandatory and subject to disciplinary action. Required Safety Gear & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Provided by
Company:
Bump caps and safety glasses.
Required Candidate Equipment:
Steel-toe boots or shoes (composite toes are not permitted) must be worn at all times on the shop floor and are required on day one for orientation.
