Apprentice Plumber Job Description The Apprentice Plumber will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in residential buildings under the guidance of a Journeyman Plumber. The role involves working independently or as part of a team to ensure plumbing systems are functioning efficiently and safely. This position is part of a large new housing development project in Traverse City. Responsibilities Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems in residential buildings. Collaborate with Journeyman Plumbers to ensure efficient and safe plumbing system operations. Independently handle plumbing tasks as assigned. Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations. Utilize tools such as cordless drills, saws, hammers, tape measures, wrenches, and screwdrivers effectively. Essential Skills Active apprentice plumber certification. Experience with PVC and PEX pipe installation. Experience in residential or commercial new construction projects, including Rough-In and Finish. Strong communication skills and leadership abilities. Valid driver's license. Additional Skills & Qualifications Proven experience in residential construction projects. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. General labor skills in new construction environments. Work Environment Work is scheduled on 1st shift with start times between 6am and 7am, comprising 10-hour days from Monday through Thursday, with occasional work on Fridays. The work is based in Traverse City, with no per diem or commute time paid. The project involves building over 200 homes, aiming for completion by the end of 2026 or early 2027. The team will include 1-2 Journeyman Plumbers and 2-3 apprentices, equipped with trucks and necessary equipment. Outside Traverse City, work is also conducted in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Holland, Grand Haven, and Muskegon, MI for residential new construction projects. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Traverse City, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
