Job Description

Perform maintenance, replacement and new installation of all types of plumbing fixtures, pumps, meters, sewage disposal stations, electric and gas water heaters and other related equipment. Perform inspections, repair or replacement and new installation of water piping, waste and vent piping, storm piping, sanitary piping, gas piping and industrial air piping. Assist contractors in major emergency utility repair and performs other work as directed. This is a safety-sensitive position which will require a pre-employment drug screen. The current schedule for this Plumber position is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. New hires will begin on the day shift for the first few months to complete required training. While the plumbing shop at the MAC does not currently operate a third shift, we plan to introduce one in Fall 2026. Please notes that it is possible for candidates hired during this posting to potentially
  • transition to the new third shift, which will consist of four 10-hour shifts, Monday night through Friday morning (8:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.) There would be a $2.00 and hour shift differential for the 3rd shift plumbers.
  • The MAC agreement differs from the standard outside union agreement.
The current MAC Plumbers contract includes the following language regarding shift hours: 8.4 Election of Shift Hours When the employer establishes a workday that falls outside the standard 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. schedule, the alternative work schedule must be posted for at least seven (7) calendar days so qualified employees may bid. Senior qualified employees will have the first opportunity to select the alternate workday and/or workweek. If no qualified employees bid on the alternate schedule, the employer may assign qualified employees to the alternate workday and/or workweek in inverse order of seniority.

JOB DUTIES

  • Unclog and clean sanitary and storm drains
  • Repair and replace leaking pipes
  • Clean sump and repair sump pumps
  • Service and repair circulating pumps and tritcherators
  • Service and repair sewage and storm water lift stations
  • Operate commercial sewer vac and jetter truck

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a Minnesota Apprenticeship program
  • 5 years' experience as a Journeyman Plumber
  • Current State of Minnesota Journeyman Plumber license
  • Possession of a valid, state issued commercial driver's license (Class A or Class B w/tanker endorsement) within six (6) months of appointment and a satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to physically perform the duties and tasks of a Journeyman Plumber, including lift, position, and pull at least 50 pounds
  • Possession of a Minneapolis/St. Paul Plumber/Gasfitter Competency Card
  • Able to report to work within 60 minutes
  • Able to report to work site 24/7 in emergency situations
  • Ability to work overtime, call-backs and various shifts
  • Current Backflow Prevention accreditation or willing to obtain within the first six (6) months of hire while on probation
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
  • Basic computer skills (E-mail, Excel, Word)
  • Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator Certificate
  • Ability to fluently communicate in a second language

  • Plumbing plan review and inspection experience Motor Vehicle Record Evaluation Guideline Effective September 11, 2015 Safe driving habits are critical for individuals employed in MAC occupations that require extensive driving of equipment on the aircraft operating area.
As a result, external applicants for the Plumber position must meet the MAC's standard of safe driving in order to be hired. A contingent offer of employment shall be withdrawn if the motor vehicle record contains: 1. Three (3) or more minor moving violations within the last three (3) years from date of offer. Minor violations include, but not limited to: Failure to wear a seat belt Speeding Failure to stop at a stop sign Failure to yield 2. Any major violation within the past three (3) years from date of offer including, but not limited to: Driving under influence of alcohol/drugs Open bottle or allowing open bottle Failure to stop/report an accident Violations as a result of an accident Reckless driving/speeding contest Making a false accident report Homicide, manslaughter or assault arising out of the use of a vehicle Driving while license is suspended/revoked Careless driving Attempting to elude a police officer Excessive speed Any pending criminal matter for a serious traffic offense will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Felony :
A crime for which a sentence of imprisonment for more than one year and a fine of more than $3,000 may be imposed. (
Examples:
criminal vehicular operations resulting in injury or death, fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle resulting in an injury or death.)
Gross Misdemeanor :
Any crime which is not a felony or misdemeanor, the maximum fine for which is $3,000.00, and imprisonment for up to one year. (
Examples:
fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, subsequent DWI violations within five and ten years.)
Misdemeanor :
A crime for which a sentence of not more than 90 days or a fine of $1,000.00, or both, may be imposed. (
Examples:
Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Driving After Suspension/Driving After Revocation (DAS/DAR), reckless/careless driving, no insurance, open bottle, parking in a handicapped area, third moving violation in a year, petty misdemeanor violations with enhancements.)
Petty Misdemeanor :
A petty offense which is prohibited by statute, which does not constitute a crime, for which a fine of not more than $100.00 may be imposed, unless the violation was originally a misdemeanor, whereupon the fine may not exceed $200.00. (
Examples:
speeding, failing to stop at a stop sign, failure to yield.)
