POSITION TITLE

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
12-month employment with benefits as specified in the Classified Agreement.
PURPOSE:
Licensed plumber skilled in performing plumbing tasks in accordance with standard practices and codes on steam boilers and domestic water/waste systems throughout the District. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing, repairing, and/or upgrading plumbing systems in accordance with accessibility requirements and health and safety codes; ensuring completion of projects and work orders in a timely manner with minimal supervision; assisting other skilled trades; maintaining District tools and equipment in an acceptable manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Installs, repairs and/or replaces and otherwise maintains existing District plumbing systems (hot water heaters, drinking fountains, wastewater, water, gas, steam, valves, etc.) in a timely manner to minimize disruptions. Analyzes blue prints, schematics, and drawings of plumbing systems to determine the most effective repairs of new or upgraded systems. Diagnoses causes of problems and/or failures in plumbing systems for the purposes of identifying repair or replacement needs. Estimates materials, labor, and/or equipment needed to complete assigned work for the purpose of obtaining necessary materials, time necessary and communicating needs with supervisor. Oversees backflow inspections, and cleaning of grease traps at various schools. Performs inspections of eyewash stations, and safety showers in labs as required. Responds to emergency situations during and after hours in order to resolve immediate safety concerns and minimize disruptions. Maintain District resources (truck, tools, etc.) in a serviceable and orderly fashion. Assist with snow removal. Other duties as assigned including but not limited to: moving furniture, chairs, risers and other District resources as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS
Journeyman plumbing license required, master license preferred. Class E driver's license, with good driving history. Good work attitude with a positive and pleasant disposition. Self-starter; able to work independently.
