Starting pay within the posted range depends on experience. Annual base pay at the top of the range: $64,480, based on 40 hours per week. HACA is seeking a P-I licensed Plumber to install, troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and maintain plumbing systems across our properties in Asheville. Why work with HACA? What you will do Diagnose and repair plumbing problems in housing units, common areas, and building systems. Install and maintain water supply, drain, waste, and vent piping; fixtures, valves, faucets, toilets, and related components within the authorized scope. Identify leaks, blockages, drainage problems, and deteriorated components; inspect for code and safety requirements and recommend corrective action. Coordinate with outside contractors on repairs and capital projects; review completed work for quality and compliance with project requirements. Document work orders, inspections, preventive maintenance, and contractor activity; provide staff with basic troubleshooting and water shutoff guidance. Respond to plumbing emergencies and after-hours service requests as assigned. What you bring Current North Carolina Plumbing Class I (P-I) Contractor License required at hire; must be maintained in good standing throughout employment. At least three years of experience working as a plumber. High school diploma or equivalent; valid North Carolina driver's license. Knowledge of plumbing systems and applicable NC/local requirements; safe use of plumbing tools and diagnostic equipment; ability to interpret building plans, plumbing diagrams, and specifications. Ability to prioritize assignments, communicate clearly with residents and contractors, and document work using Microsoft Office and electronic work order systems such as Yardi. Must meet HACA's pre-employment background check and drug screening requirements and be able to respond to emergency calls as assigned.
Preferred:
Plumbing apprenticeship or relevant trade training; plumbing experience in multifamily housing, public housing, or property management. Work environment & physical requirements Work across HACA properties, including housing units, common areas, building systems, and project sites; travel between locations is required. Duties involve tools and equipment, extended standing/walking, ladders, confined spaces, bending, crouching, kneeling, and reaching. Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.
