Job Title:
Plumber - Commercial Construction Job Description This role focuses on plumbing work for commercial construction projects, including apartment complexes and commercial buildings within approximately one hour of Cleveland. You will work a daytime schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a 30‑minute lunch and a 15‑minute morning break, installing and servicing a variety of plumbing systems and fixtures in new construction environments. Responsibilities Install and run water and drain lines in new commercial construction projects, ensuring accurate layout and proper connections. Install gas lines, including gas lines to furnaces, following applicable codes and safety practices. Install sanitary drain lines, storm lines, roof drains, and hot water tanks according to project specifications. Perform underground plumbing work, including layout, trenching interface, and proper backfill coordination. Install and set plumbing fixtures as required for apartment complexes and commercial buildings. Work with PVC, copper, and cast iron piping, selecting appropriate materials and methods for each application. Use ProPress tools and soldering techniques to assemble and connect piping systems securely and efficiently. Interpret instructions or layouts to be shown a room and independently determine where and how to run lines. Use basic hand tools and measuring devices such as tape measures, levels, and wrenches to complete precise installations. Travel to job sites within approximately a one‑hour radius of Cleveland and arrive on time with reliable transportation. Follow all site safety rules, including proper use of PPE, and maintain a clean and organized work area. Collaborate with other trades and team members to ensure projects stay on schedule and meet quality standards. Essential Skills Prior hands-on experience running water and drain lines in new construction projects, particularly in commercial environments. Demonstrated ability to be shown a room and independently plan and install the required plumbing lines. Experience working on commercial construction projects such as apartment complexes and commercial buildings. Proficiency in installing water and drain lines, gas lines, sanitary drain lines, storm lines, roof drains, and hot water tanks. Ability to perform underground plumbing work safely and accurately. Skill in working with PVC, copper, and cast iron piping. Experience using ProPress tools for pipe joining. Proficiency in soldering for plumbing applications. Commitment to a long-term career in plumbing and willingness to develop skills over time. Reliable transportation to travel to job sites within approximately one hour of Cleveland. Ability to work the scheduled hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with required breaks. Capability to use basic tools including tape measure, level, and wrenches safely and accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in commercial construction plumbing, including coordination with other trades. Understanding of basic plumbing codes and safety practices related to gas, water, and drain installations. Strong spatial awareness to visualize and route piping efficiently within a room or building layout. Attention to detail and quality workmanship in all installations and connections. The work is hands-on and physically active, often involving underground work and installation of piping and fixtures throughout building structures. You will regularly use tools such as tape measures, levels, and wrenches, along with plumbing-specific equipment like ProPress tools and soldering gear. The environment requires adherence to safety practices and the use of personal protective equipment, including steel-toe boots and jeans, with safety vests, hard hats, and high-visibility gear provided as needed. The setting is typical of commercial construction sites, with varying weather exposure and a focus on teamwork, productivity, and safe work practices. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Medina, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
