Full-Time | Year-Round Work | Take-Home Company Truck This Is Not an Entry-Level Plumbing Position Kay Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is hiring an experienced Plumbing Service & Sales Technician who can independently diagnose plumbing problems, explain findings to homeowners, present repair and replacement options, and confidently ask for the customer's business. The right candidate is more than a skilled installer. You must be comfortable working directly with customers, identifying additional plumbing needs, building value, offering appropriate solutions, and closing approved work. Your responsibilities will include:
Independently diagnosing plumbing, drain, sewer, water, and gas-system problems Performing plumbing repairs and smaller installations when approved Conducting thorough plumbing-system inspections Identifying immediate problems, safety concerns, aging equipment, and future plumbing needs Explaining findings to customers in clear, understandable language Building and presenting multiple repair or replacement options Providing upfront pricing and obtaining customer approval before beginning work Recommending long-term solutions instead of providing temporary fixes Generating qualified replacement leads for larger plumbing projects Following up on open or unsold estimates when assigned Completing accurate job notes, estimates, photos, invoices, and customer approvals Collecting payment and properly closing out each service call Protecting customers' homes and leaving work areas clean Maintaining a clean, organized, and properly stocked company vehicle Following plumbing codes, safety standards, and company procedures Participating in the company's rotating on-call schedule Services You Should Be Comfortable Diagnosing and Selling Qualified candidates should have experience with several of the following: Water-heater repair and replacement Tank and tankless water-heater installation Water, sewer, and drain-line repairs Whole-home water and sewer repiping Fixture, faucet, toilet, and disposal replacement Sewer and well pumps Water-filtration and water-treatment systems (optional - training provided) Pressure-reducing valves and emergency shutoff replacements Gas-line repairs and installations Backflow repairs and replacements (optional - training provided) Drain cleaning and sewer-camera inspections Plumbing-system inspections and preventive maintenance Minimum Qualifications Please apply only if you meet the following requirements: At least three years of verifiable plumbing service experience Experience running residential service calls independently Ability to diagnose plumbing problems without constant supervision Experience preparing estimates and presenting options directly to homeowners Confidence discussing pricing and asking customers to approve recommended work Working knowledge of plumbing codes and proper installation practices Ability to complete common service repairs correctly and efficiently Strong verbal communication and customer-service skills Ability to use a smartphone or tablet for estimates, photos, notes, and invoices Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record Dependable attendance and willingness to participate in an on-call rotation Ability to safely lift equipment and work in crawl spaces, attics, and varying weather conditions Willingness to complete applicable background, driving-record, and drug-screening requirements Who Will Be Successful in This Position?
