Plumbing Excavation Technician / Digger Residential & New Construction MJ Frick Company | Nashville, TN MJ Frick Company is looking for a dependable, hardworking Plumbing Excavation Technician / Digger to support our residential service and new construction plumbing teams. This is a hands-on field position focused on excavation, underground plumbing support, jobsite preparation, and assisting plumbers with sewer and water line installation and repairs. Pay based on experience and certifications. Responsibilities Dig trenches for sewer, water, drainage, and underground plumbing lines Operate shovels, trenchers, mini excavators, and other equipment as qualified Assist with underground sewer, water, and drainage pipe installation Help establish proper trench depth, grade, bedding, and pipe placement Perform excavation for sewer replacements, water service repairs, underground leaks, cleanouts, septic/sewer connections, and new construction plumbing Backfill and compact trenches after installation and inspection Load, unload, and transport pipe, fittings, gravel, tools, and equipment Protect landscaping, driveways, sidewalks, foundations, and customer property Maintain safe trenches and follow OSHA excavation and jobsite safety requirements Inspect, clean, and maintain excavation equipment, trucks, trailers, and tools Keep job sites clean, organized, and ready for the next stage of work Assist plumbers with general plumbing helper duties when excavation work is not required Qualifications Experience with excavation, construction, utilities, plumbing, or heavy equipment preferred Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and muddy conditions Ability to lift approximately 50-75 lbs. and perform physically demanding work Comfortable working around trenches, heavy equipment, crawl spaces, and uneven terrain Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Valid CDL favorable Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work well with a team Plumbing license is not required This position is primarily focused on excavation and field support , with opportunities to learn additional plumbing skills and grow within the company.
