We're hiring a licensed Texas Master Plumber to build and lead our grease trap maintenance department while also handling residential lift station and grinder pump service, repairs, and replacements. We're looking for someone with strong technical judgment, pride in their work, and the ambition to build something. You'll work directly with the owner, help shape the department, and have a compensation structure that rewards its growth and profitability. The market opportunity Austin Public Health identifies nearly 5,000 food service establishments across Austin and Travis County. That represents a broad potential customer base for commercial kitchen services. For properties with grease traps, maintenance is a recurring need: Austin requires pumping at least every 90 days, or sooner when specified accumulation limits are reached. Our plan is to pursue that opportunity through direct outreach to restaurants, relationships with property managers and restaurant groups, and monthly maintenance agreements that combine pumping, preventive jetting, inspections, and service documentation. Our existing pump truck fleet, operating team, customer relationships, and reputation provide a foundation to build on. Residential lift station and grinder pump calls provide additional service opportunities as we grow the commercial customer base. You'll help turn that opportunity into a well-run department with recurring customers and excellent service. What we're building We want restaurants and property owners to have one dependable team managing their grease trap maintenance. You'll develop property-specific plans with clearly defined services and schedules, coordinate our pump trucks with plumbing work, and identify problems before they become expensive emergencies. Necessary repairs and replacements will be evaluated, quoted, and completed alongside the maintenance program. The goal is to help customers meet applicable requirements, reduce backups and downtime, and extend the useful life of their systems. Your role This is a hands-on leadership position. Initially, you'll spend substantial time in the field performing work, evaluating properties, preparing estimates, and establishing customer relationships. As the department grows, you'll help hire, train, and lead additional technicians.

Your responsibilities will include:

Serving as Septic Squad's Responsible Master Plumber and overseeing plumbing work, required permits, inspections, and workmanship. Evaluating grease traps, interceptors, and connected drain lines to identify maintenance needs and existing deficiencies. Developing and executing preventive maintenance plans tailored to each property. Performing hydro jetting, drain cleaning, camera inspections, troubleshooting, and plumbing repairs. Diagnosing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing residential lift station and grinder pump components within your qualifications and license scope. Coordinating electrical work and other specialized services with appropriately licensed contractors when needed. Working with our pump truck crews and dispatch team to deliver organized, efficient service. Preparing accurate estimates and explaining findings and options clearly to customers. Helping win maintenance agreements through site assessments, proposals, and relationships with restaurant owners and property managers. Maintaining service reports, photographs, pumping manifests, and maintenance histories. Helping establish pricing, equipment needs, service procedures, and training standards. Managing service quality, customer retention, callbacks, and department profitability. Who we're looking for An active Texas Master Plumber license in good standing. Willingness and eligibility to serve as Septic Squad's Responsible Master Plumber. Strong service plumbing, diagnostic, and repair skills. Commercial kitchen, grease trap, grease interceptor, and drain maintenance experience strongly preferred. Residential lift station, sewage ejector, or grinder pump experience strongly preferred. Confidence using hydro jetting and drain camera equipment. The ability to organize jobs, prepare estimates, document work, and follow through. Sound judgment about when to repair, replace, investigate further, or involve another trade. A professional approach with homeowners, restaurant operators, property managers, and coworkers. A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Willingness to perform physical fieldwork and participate in scheduled after-hours service and emergency coverage. Previous department management experience is helpful. We also welcome an experienced lead plumber ready for more responsibility or a plumbing business owner interested in joining an established operating team. Compensation with no ceiling on incentives $75,000-$85,000 annual base compensation, depending on experience. 5% commission on collected maintenance-plan revenue during the first 12 months for new accounts you personally bring in and close. 15% of department operating profit, paid quarterly under a written incentive plan. No cap on commission or department profit-share earnings. The department's grease trap, plumbing, lift station, and grinder pump work will contribute to its financial performance. The written incentive agreement will define eligible revenue, expenses, account credit, and payment timing. Regular financial reporting will let you see how your results translate into compensation. This is a new department. Incentive earnings will depend on the customers we secure, the business we retain, and the profitability we build.
