Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Stairlift and Vertical Platform Lift Installer to join our growing team. Candidates must have at least three years of hands-on experience installing, servicing, and repairing stairlifts and vertical platform lifts. Current certification as a Virginia Accessibility Mechanic (ASC) is strongly preferred. Qualified candidates who are not currently ASC-certified must be willing to study for and take the Virginia ASC mechanic examination. Compensation will be based on relevant experience and certification: $30-$35/hour: Experienced stairlift and vertical platform lift installer who is not yet Virginia ASC-certified $36-$42/hour: Currently certified Virginia Accessibility Mechanic, depending on experience and ability to work independently, troubleshoot equipment, and train other installers The installer will also assist with ramps, grab bars, and other residential accessibility modifications. This position requires strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, basic carpentry experience, proficiency with hand and power tools, and a commitment to exceptional customer service. Product-specific training will be provided. All necessary tools and a company vehicle will be provided and garaged at the company warehouse. Responsibilities Install stairlifts and vertical platform lifts in accordance with manufacturer specifications, applicable codes, and safety standards. Install ramps, grab bars, and other residential accessibility products and modifications. Perform routine maintenance, service, and repairs on stairlifts, vertical platform lifts, and ramps. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment issues. Evaluate mounting conditions and structural integrity before installation. Maintain accurate records of installations, inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities. Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and other team members. Follow all company, manufacturer, and jobsite safety requirements. Help train and support other installers as the company grows. Required Qualifications At least three years of hands-on experience installing, servicing, and repairing stairlifts and vertical platform lifts. Basic residential carpentry and handyman experience. Demonstrated mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability. Proficiency with hand tools, including saws, hammers, and chisels, and power tools, including drills and woodworking saws. Familiarity with construction-site safety standards and safe power-tool practices. Ability to perform moderate lifting and physical labor associated with equipment installation safely and efficiently. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and customer-service skills. Compassionate and respectful approach toward older adults and people with disabilities. Willingness and ability to attend three to five days of training at company headquarters in New Jersey. Valid driver's license in good standing. Willingness to study for and take the Virginia ASC mechanic examination if not already certified. Preferred Qualifications Current Virginia Accessibility Mechanic (ASC) certification Candidates who already hold Virginia ASC certification will be eligible for a higher starting wage.
