Job Description
Work Schedule and Other Information This position requires attendance to a Monday New Employee and Safety Orientation. Following orientation, the working schedule will be Saturdays and Sundays for the Winter Season and then Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday in the Summer Season. Report time is 8:00 a.m., with shifts lasting between 4 to 10 hours. Brief Description The Boater Education and Pump-Out Program is a supportive effort of HRSD and the Wildlife & Sport Fish Restoration Grant Program - administered by the Virginia Department of Health, and the Cities of Hampton, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach. Under broad guidance, the Boater Pump-Out Intern is responsible for providing community education, performing holding-tank pump-outs at local marinas and residences, and conducting other office and field support activities. The Summer Season operates Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Winter Season operates Labor Day weekend through Memorial Day weekend on Saturdays and Sundays. This position is a temporary internship with a three (3) year maximum duration. Detailed Description Job Requirements Education Required Currently enrolled as a college student from an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in applicable fields of study. Or postgraduate from an accredited college/university within two years. Experience Required None Desired Familiarity of the Hampton Roads area Licenses and Certifications Requirements Valid Driver's License from state of residence.
