Job Description

Summary:
Carbon Builders is a General Trades and Steel building provider, founded in 2022 and located in Grand Rapids, MI. Carbon Builders is a trade partner setting high standards related to safety, quality, and value.
Key Responsibilities:
Structural Assembly:
Erect and secure steel structures by bolting, welding, or other fastening methods as per engineering specifications. •
Blueprint Interpretation:
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements. •
Equipment Operation:
Operate cranes, hoists, and other heavy equipment to position and secure steel components. •
Measurement & Alignment:
Ensure accurate measurement, alignment, and fitting of structural elements using levels, plumb bobs, and laser equipment. •
Safety Compliance:
Follow strict safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), adhering to site safety guidelines, and identifying potential hazards. •
Rigging & Lifting:
Use rigging equipment to hoist and position steel sections safely and efficiently. •
Inspection & Maintenance:
Inspect and maintain tools, equipment, and safety gear regularly to ensure functionality and safety. •
Collaboration:
Work closely with construction teams, engineers, and project managers to meet project timelines and goals.
Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in reading blueprints and construction plans. Knowledge of steel assembly, welding, and bolting techniques. Experience with rigging and operating lifting equipment.
Physical Fitness:
Ability to work at heights, in various weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
Safety Awareness:
Familiarity with OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
Teamwork:
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Problem-Solving:
Quick decision-making skills to address unexpected challenges on-site. High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in steelwork or construction is a plus. Experience in steel erection or a related field. Certification in welding or rigging is advantageous. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Comfortable working at heights and with heavy machinery. Outdoor construction sites with varying weather conditions. Physically demanding tasks requiring heavy lifting, climbing, and bending.
