Essential Functions:
Load and unload machines. Set up and operate several machines at one time. Refer to Ropery Layout for die size, wire size, strand diameters and lay direction. Check diameter of all wire before loading into machine. Make sure wire or strand does not run out - THIS
IS A MUST!
Continuous monitor of product for smoothness and diameter. Use micrometer and caliper to ensure product conformance. Follow all work instructions and special notes on Traveler. Complete required Quality Control and Traveler paperwork correctly. Tag/label product for disposition. Maintain all records and paperwork. Maintain machine maintenance as determined by preventive maintenance schedule. Keep area neat, clean, and organized with no wire on the floor.
Maintain safe operation of stranders:
lock collars and spindles. spindle is seated on brake rope. check brake rope, nut and springs. check tensions on reels, traversing and take-up. verify that safety devices are in place, operational and functioning properly. The manufacturing of wire rope requires the following physical abilities: Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s). Handling by seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with the hand or hands. Standing for extended periods of time. Lifting, carrying objects weighing 75 lbs. or less. Pushing, pulling objects weighing 30 lbs. or less. Knowledge that Continental Cable is an ISO/AS certified company and understands the Quality Policy. Maintain a safe work environment at all times and follow all Continental Cable safety policies including safety glasses, work shoes and all required personal protection equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.
