Account Manager:
Wiring Harness Protection Thornley Corporate Solutions Detroit, MI Job Details Full-time $0.50 per mile 7 hours ago Benefits Disability insurance Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications Managing customer accounts Customer communication Territory sales Market expansion Identifying new business opportunities Account development Mid-level Crisis management (risk management strategy) Calendar management Incident response (Crisis management methodologies) New customer acquisition Client growth strategy Wiring harnesses Automotive industry sales experience Account management Negotiation Full Job Description 100% Remote (US) | $125,000 base + 10-15% bonus + car allowance Sick of being a small cog in a big machine? Here's a role where you'll actually be seen. Our client is a global manufacturer of wiring harness protection products (sleeves, protective solutions, and thermal/abrasion protection) with around $110M in worldwide sales and a serious growth story: 15% annual growth over the last five years, and with some customers they supply 40% of their commodity. The plan for the Americas is to nearly double the business, from ~$35M to $60M in three years, and they're hiring the salespeople who'll make it happen. Why this role is different Genuinely remote. No office. No "hybrid for now." You'll work from home with home office expenses covered: internet, cell phone, the lot. You manage your own diary and get in front of customers when it counts. A product that wins either way. Whichever direction the powertrain market goes, you win. Combustion, hybrid,
EV:
they all need wiring, and more electrification means more wires needing more protection. And it doesn't stop at automotive: the industrial side spans niches from medical devices to emerging tech, in a market where adjacent players are protecting wiring for aerospace and robotics applications. Real exposure, real growth. This is a lean organization with a flat structure. You'll work directly alongside senior leaders with decades of industry experience, sit in on negotiations, and handle situations that people at big-name Tier 1s never get near. If you want to develop fast, there is no better classroom. You're set up to succeed. You won't be cold-starting a territory. You'll inherit warm, active accounts with the biggest names in the harness world, think Lear, Yazaki, Sumitomo and more, plus manufacturing in Mexico and a new engineering center on the way to back you up.
Your job:
grow the accounts you're given and open up new business alongside them. What you'll be doing Managing and growing existing accounts with the major wiring harness manufacturers across the Americas, including Lear, Yazaki and Sumitomo, while developing new business in automotive and industrial niches. Regular customer visits (mileage paid at ~$0.50/mile on top of your car allowance), crisis management when things get hot, and building the kind of relationships this industry runs on. Who this suits Maybe you're an experienced account manager who's plateaued and bored where you are. Maybe you're early-thirties, hungry, and stuck behind someone who isn't moving. Either way, you'll bring: 3-5+ years in customer-facing sales or account management. Not a desk job; you've managed customers, crises, and everything in between Experience in automotive components. Wiring harnesses, sleeves, or protection products would be ideal, but strong industry contacts and the ability to learn the product matter more A network in the Detroit/Michigan automotive scene is a big plus The drive to open new markets, not just babysit accounts The package $125,000 base salary 10-15% annual bonus Car allowance plus mileage 401(k) , medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long-term disability Fully remote with home office costs covered
