This is a hands-on production role for someone who can read a detail, set a crew's pace, and put down a roof that passes manufacturer inspection the first time. You'll work on occupied commercial buildings — warehouses, retail centers, schools, medical, and industrial — installing mechanically attached and fully adhered TPO systems, plus the edge metal, copings, and flashings that go with them. You report to the Project Manager and Foreman, and you're expected to know the difference between a detail that's done and a detail that's just covered up. What You'll Do Install mechanically attached and fully adhered TPO/single-ply membrane systems, including insulation layup, cover board, plates, fasteners, and adhesives Weld membrane with hot-air hand welders and automatic welders; probe and repair seams to manufacturer standard Fabricate and install edge metal, copings, counterflashing, pitch pans, curb flashings, scuppers, and expansion joints Detail penetrations, drains, curbs, and terminations to manufacturer specification Perform tear-off, deck prep, and inspection of existing substrates; flag deck damage and unforeseen conditions to the Foreman immediately Read and work from roof plans, shop drawings, and manufacturer detail sheets Stage and protect materials, keep the roof and ground area clean, and maintain safe access and fall protection at all times Mentor apprentices and laborers on proper technique and jobsite safety Complete daily production reporting as directed by the Foreman or PM What You Need Required 4+ years commercial roofing experience, with a strong track record on TPO or other single-ply systems Proven hot-air welding ability — hand welder and automatic welder Sheet metal experience: layout, brake work, and field installation of edge metal and flashings Ability to read roof plans and manufacturer details without hand-holding OSHA 10 (or willingness to obtain within 30 days) and working knowledge of fall protection requirements Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to jobsites Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check Preferred Manufacturer installer certification (Carlisle, Versico, Johns Manville, GAF, or similar) Experience on occupied buildings and phased tear-offs with tie-in requirements Experience with PVC, modified bitumen, or coating/restoration systems OSHA 30 Bilingual English/Spanish Forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift certification Physical Requirements Regularly lift and carry 50-75 lbs; occasionally more with assistance Work at heights on flat and low-slope roofs, climb ladders, and work from lifts Work outdoors in Arizona summer heat — extended exposure with scheduled hydration and shade breaks Stand, kneel, bend, and walk uneven surfaces for the full shift Early start times (crews typically start at or before daylight during summer months) Why Atlas Atlas Roofing and Waterproofing is a commercial roofing contractor serving general contractors, property managers, and building owners across Arizona.
