7:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. during scheduled training days Position Overview An experienced Construction Trades Instructor is being sought for a six-week, hands-on construction training program in San Gabriel Valley. This position is ideal for an experienced construction professional who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and introducing individuals to careers in the skilled trades. The instructor will provide practical instruction, demonstrations, and supervised hands-on training. Participants may have varying levels of construction experience, including individuals who are new to the trades. Areas of Instruction Applicants with experience in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: General construction Carpentry and framing Blueprint reading Construction measurement and layout Hand and power tools Construction safety and PPE Site preparation Flooring installation Carpet installation and removal Laminate and vinyl plank flooring Drywall installation and finishing Insulation Interior painting and finishing Basic plumbing Basic electrical Construction materials and methods Jobsite organization and cleanup Construction math Workplace and career readiness Applicants are not required to specialize in every area listed. Individuals with strong experience in a particular construction trade or multiple trades are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities The instructor will provide hands-on instruction and demonstrations, teach proper construction techniques and tool use, supervise practical training activities, maintain an organized learning environment, assist participants in developing construction skills, monitor participant progress, reinforce professional jobsite practices, and coordinate with program staff regarding instructional materials and equipment. Qualifications Construction industry experience is required. Previous teaching experience is helpful but not required for experienced tradespeople who are comfortable demonstrating their skills and working with beginning-level participants. Experience may include work as a: Contractor Carpenter Flooring Installer Painter Drywall Installer Framer Plumber Electrician Foreman Superintendent Crew Leader Construction Trainer Skilled Tradesperson Applicants should have strong practical construction knowledge, effective communication skills, and the ability to demonstrate safe and professional work practices. Compensation & Commitment $50.00 per hour This is a temporary six-week instructional opportunity running from late September through early November. Applicants should have availability between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. during scheduled weekly training days.
