We are looking for an experienced installer who understands that great fireplace work combines technical knowledge, construction skill, safety, problem-solving, and craftsmanship. This is a full-time field position working primarily on residential projects throughout Marin County and the surrounding service area. The work Install gas and wood fireplaces, inserts, and related hearth products Work with venting, chimney components, liners, terminations, and required clearances Lay out and frame fireplace openings and chases Read manufacturer specifications and basic plans Complete mantels, surrounds, trim, and related finish carpentry Plan vent paths, penetrations, blocking, and finished dimensions Perform operational and safety checks Troubleshoot installation conditions in the field Coordinate with builders and other trades Work professionally in occupied homes, including site protection, cleanup, and homeowner handoff The person we're hoping to find: You have real hands-on experience installing fireplaces, hearth products, stoves, inserts, venting, or closely related systems. You know the difference between making something fit and installing it correctly. You measure before you cut. You pay attention to clearances. You read the manufacturer's requirements. If something on the job doesn't look right, you figure out why before covering it up. And when the work is finished, you care what it looks like. Strong candidates will bring several of the following: Fireplace, hearth, stove, or insert installation experience Gas and/or wood fireplace experience Venting, chimney, flue, or liner experience Residential framing and layout skills Finish carpentry around mantels, surrounds, trim, tile, stone, or adjacent walls Ability to read basic plans and manufacturer specifications Strong measuring and construction-tool skills Experience solving unexpected field conditions Experience working professionally in customers' homes Ability to work independently while knowing when a condition requires additional expertise Direct fireplace/hearth installation experience is strongly preferred. We will also consider an exceptional residential tradesperson whose background includes highly transferable fireplace, chimney, venting, gas-appliance, finish-carpentry, or specialty-installation experience.
