619 Roofing is seeking an experienced Roofing Field Superintendent to help lead our residential and commercial roofing operations throughout San Diego County. This is a hands-on field leadership position for someone who understands roofing, knows how to lead crews, and can make sure every project is properly prepared before work begins. The Field Superintendent will be responsible for crew supervision, job readiness, material ordering, quality control, safety, customer communication, inspections, field documentation, and project closeout.
Responsibilities:
Supervise Lead Roofers and roofing crews on residential and commercial projects Lead daily field coordination, including crew assignments, manpower allocation, drivers, job priorities, and schedule adjustments across active projects Attend scheduling meetings and review project scopes, measurements, photos, materials, and special job requirements to ensure each project is fully prepared before work begins Take ownership of job readiness and ensure scheduled projects are fully prepared for production before crews are dispatched Order roofing materials and confirm accuracy before each project begins Coordinate material deliveries and confirm materials are available prior to project start Resolve shortages, backorders, incorrect shipments, and missing materials Confirm crews have the materials, equipment, information, and access needed to complete the work Coordinate scheduling and assignments for trash and debris drivers to support active job sites Coordinate subcontractors and specialty trades as needed, including solar and other production-related work Coordinate jobsite logistics, including roof access, deliveries, equipment placement, solar, and other special project conditions Visit active jobsites regularly and monitor progress, workmanship, safety, and cleanliness Perform roofing quality-control inspections and require corrections when necessary Meet with homeowners to review project concerns, job progress, workmanship issues, and field-related questions Perform roof inspections when needed and provide clear documentation of roof conditions Conduct warranty-related inspections and assist with identifying whether reported concerns are related to workmanship, materials, maintenance, or other conditions Document inspection findings with clear notes and photos Troubleshoot roof leaks, flashing conditions, installation issues, and unexpected field conditions Identify and document potential change orders before additional work is completed Make day-to-day field and production decisions necessary to keep projects moving, escalating significant cost, customer, or contractual issues to Management when needed Monitor labor hours, overtime, material usage, waste, and field productivity Maintain accurate project photos and production notes in CompanyCam Communicate delays, material issues, customer concerns, warranty concerns, and field problems to Management Train, coach, and hold roofing crews accountable for workmanship, productivity, attendance, and safety Assist with interviewing and evaluating roofing candidates and provide input on field staffing needs Address field employee performance, attendance, and disciplinary concerns in coordination with Management and HR Review field employee timecards for accuracy Conduct and participate in safety meetings, tailgate talks, and corrective safety discussions Coordinate company vehicles, trailers, tools, and equipment needed for field operations and report maintenance or repair needs Respond to urgent field issues, callbacks, and service concerns and coordinate the appropriate crew or technician as needed Protect customer property and maintain clean, professional jobsites Complete final quality-control inspections and punch lists before project closeout Ensure completed jobs are properly documented and communicate completion status to the office for billing and closeout Provide Management with regular updates on crew performance, project progress, production challenges, and upcoming field needs
Skills:
Bilingual:
Spanish and English preferred Knowledge of roofing materials and installation Thorough knowledge of roofing and waterproofing materials. Ability to work as part of a team Proficient computer skills including email, uploading pictures, must use iPad & etc. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Must have experience with multi-family, commercial, and industrial roofing Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record to be accepted on the company's auto insurance.
Experience/Qualifications:
5+ years of professional roofing experience required 2-3+ years of roofing leadership experience preferred Fluent/bilingual English and Spanish required Experience supervising roofing crews Strong residential roofing knowledge Commercial roofing experience preferred Ability to accurately order roofing materials and understand roofing quantities Strong ability to inspect roofs and identify installation, leak, flashing, and waterproofing issues Comfortable meeting directly with homeowners and explaining roofing conditions professionally Understanding of roofing warranties and warranty-related inspections preferred Knowledge of shingles, tile, TPO/low-slope roofing, modified bitumen, coatings, repairs, and waterproofing Strong understanding of roofing safety and Cal/OSHA requirements Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple active projects Comfortable using CompanyCam and project-management technology Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Ability to safely climb ladders and inspect roofs Preferred Qualifications OSHA 30 Manufacturer roofing certifications HOA or multi-family roofing experience TPO and modified-bitumen experience Roof coating experience Skylight, gutter, and sheet-metal experience CompanyCam experience
Requirements:
Must have a valid driver license Must be able to work at heights Physically able to climb, stand, walk, kneel, crouch and drive for extended periods of time Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time to lift and carry roofing materials
