Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Fireproofing Technician to join our dynamic construction team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee fireproofing installation projects, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency on-site. Your expertise will help safeguard structures by applying fire-resistant materials accurately and adhering to strict safety protocols. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a team, interpret technical drawings, and contribute to large-scale construction projects that prioritize safety and durability. Duties Lead and supervise fireproofing installation teams, coordinating daily tasks to meet project deadlines. Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine the correct application of fireproofing materials. Prepare surfaces and structures for fireproofing by cleaning, measuring, and marking areas according to specifications. Apply fire-resistant coatings, spray-applied fireproofing, hand trowel applications, or other insulation materials using hand tools and power tools while following safety protocols. Conduct quality inspections throughout the project to ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications. Maintain detailed documentation of work progress, safety checks, and material usage for project records. Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members to coordinate project activities and resolve issues promptly. Requirements Proven experience in construction, specifically in fireproofing or insulation installation; construction site experience is essential. Strong knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and fireproofing techniques. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately. Skilled in the use of hand tools such as caulking guns, trowels, brushes, and measuring devices; familiarity with power tools is required. Mechanical knowledge related to HVAC systems, metal stud framing, drywall installation, plastering, roofing, masonry, or related trades is a plus. Physical ability to climb ladders and scaffolding safely; comfortable working at heights and on uneven surfaces. Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to project specifications. Commitment to safety protocol adherence at all times; knowledge of power tool safety is mandatory. Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team coordination.
