Job Description

Canton Roofing Company
  • Canton, OH
  • Full-time
  • Year-round
  • $35-40/hr + OT Read This Before You Apply 5+ years in residential exteriors We are hiring one person.
If you need someone checking your panel runs before you set a standing seam roof, this isn't your job. If "high-level flashing detail" isn't a phrase you'd use to describe your own work, this isn't your job either. This is not a helper seat, not a crew spot, and not a role we're bringing someone up to speed in. We're paying at the top of this market because we want a true exterior craftsman — somebody who can be handed a metal roof, a chimney that's been leaking through three other companies' repairs, a full siding elevation, or a set of entry doors, and just go do it right. We'd rather leave this open another two months than fill it wrong. What the Job Actually Is This is a hybrid install and service role. Some weeks you're on an install — running standing seam, hanging siding, setting windows. Other weeks you're in the truck on service calls, diagnosing leaks and making repairs that hold. You'll assist and lead on installs depending on the job, and you'll run repairs on your own. Work is across Stark, Summit, and Wayne counties. Our office books everything, sets your route, and handles the customers. You show up, do the work at a level we can put our name on, and document it with before-and-after photos. Your rate doesn't move with the mix. That's the whole reason this job is hourly and not per-square. Install week or service week, the clock runs the same, and everything past 40 is time and a half. Service days you go straight from home to your first call. Install days you may stage at the shop depending on the material. What You Need to Be Able to Do — Unsupervised, Day One Standing seam metal — layout, panel runs, cleats and clips, hems, ridge, hips, valleys, transitions, curbs, and penetrations. Field-formed or shop panel. Exposed fastener panel — correct screw pattern and torque, closures, trim, proper laps. Shingles — tear-off through finish, architectural and three-tab, correct nailing, starter, ice and water, ventilation. High-level flashing detail — step and counterflashing, chimney crickets, headwall and sidewall transitions, kickouts, dead valleys, pipe and vent penetrations, wall-to-roof. This is the part we care about most. Anybody can nail shingles. Water gets in at the details. Gutter — 5" and 6" K-style, running the seamless machine, hand-cut miters, downspouts, soffit and fascia. Siding — vinyl, board and batten, LP and fiber cement, aluminum trim and coil wrapping. You should be comfortable and fast on a brake. Windows and entry doors — insert and full-frame replacement, sliders, correct flashing and sealing so it doesn't come back. The Rest of It 5+ years in residential exteriors, with real time on metal Comfortable on steep slope, ladders, and lifts Able to lift 60+ lbs repeatedly and work outdoors in Ohio weather year-round Valid driver's license and clean MVR — you're taking a company truck home Clean background check — you'll be at customers' homes and in them Can stand in a driveway and explain to a homeowner what's wrong and what it costs without it being awkward Your own hand tools; we provide everything else Plus, not required — tell us if you have it: masonry and tuckpointing
  • chimney rebuilds
  • low-slope (TPO, EPDM, mod bit)
  • flat-lock or soldered copper
  • crew lead experience Pay and What We Provide $35-40/hour , W2, direct deposit twice a month — where you land depends on what you can actually do Hourly, not piece rate.
Slow week, weather week, service week — your pay doesn't change. Overtime at $52.50-60/hr. Expect 40-50 hours. The hours are there if you want them. Take-home truck, fuel card, and company phone — no miles on your own vehicle $500 bonus every time a roof you flag turns into a replacement. You take the photos and make the call; our sales team runs the appointment. No cap. 5% commission on repairs you price and close yourself 90-day review with a real conversation about where this goes 5 days PTO plus 6 paid holidays after 90 days Ohio BWC workers' comp — W2 employee, not 1099 Safety gear, harnesses, and fall protection provided. We don't cut corners on this. Full-time, year-round. Not seasonal. Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM start. Saturdays come up in the busy months — always overtime, never mandatory. Who We Are Canton Roofing Company does roofing, siding, gutters, windows, entry doors, and storm restoration across Northeast Ohio. We've built it on 600+ five-star Google reviews and we're not interested in work that costs us those. If you tell a homeowner their roof has five good years left, nobody here second-guesses you. We'd rather lose a sale than earn a one-star. How to Apply Don't send a resume. Send pictures. Text "SEAM" to 330-639-9454 with: Your name Years you've been running standing seam Three photos of your own work — one metal roof, one flashing or chimney detail, one siding or trim job We'll call you back the same day. Photos put you at the top of the pile. You can also click Apply here, or call that number and ask for Jarrett. We move fast on the right person.
