Job Summary The Punch Work Technician operates as an independent contractor (1099) responsible for completing field repair, touch-up, and final detail tasks on residential construction job sites. This role ensures that all items identified during post-walk inspections are resolved quickly, safely, and to high quality standards before final builder sign-off. The ideal technician is self-motivated, provides their own tools and transportation, and possesses strong hands-on trades skills to address diverse punch list needs efficiently.
Scope of Work & Key Responsibilities Punch List Execution:
Review assigned post-walk job lists and complete outstanding punch items, touch-ups, and minor repairs within required timelines.
Quality & Workmanship:
Ensure all completed repairs meet or exceed the specified quality and finishing standards required by the builder and company.
Jobsite Preparation & Cleanliness:
Verify the work area is prepped prior to repair work and clean up all materials, debris, and dust upon completion.
Site Communication & Reporting:
Provide prompt updates, status photos, and completion confirmations for each job through OnSpec IQ.
Safety & Compliance:
Maintain a safe work environment on active jobsites, supplying and utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to basic site safety guidelines.
Professional Representation:
Represent the company professionally while interacting on-site with builders, superintendents, and property owners. Requirements & Qualifications Handheld tools, specialty finishing equipment, and reliable transportation necessary to perform punch work across active job sites. Hands-on experience in residential construction, finishing work, or multi-trade field repairs. Ability to read job scopes, detail notes, and basic site plans. Smartphone or tablet proficiency to upload job progress photos and status updates into OnSpec IQ. Ability to regularly lift 25-50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform physical trade labor in various jobsite environments. Must hold appropriate business licensing and active General Liability / Workers' Compensation insurance (or applicable waivers) as an independent 1099 contractor.
Compensation & Payment Terms Pay Structure:
Project-based, piece-rate, or hourly contractor rates based on defined job scopes and completed punch lists.
Invoicing & Approvals:
Submissions for completed work must be reviewed and approved following final inspection.
Payment Schedule:
Approved invoices are processed on a weekly schedule. This engagement is strictly for an Independent Contractor (1099) position and does not establish an employer-employee relationship.
