A Sheet Metal Fabricator or Mechanic fabricates and installs parts or products made with thin sheet metal, such as heating and air-conditioning ducts used in construction or parts used in aircraft manufacturing.
We are seeking experienced Sheetmetal Mechanics for shipyard work in Pascagoula, MS. This role involves fabricating and installing various sheet metal components, including ductwork, venting systems, main engine exhausts, and instrumentation panels. Candidates should be adept at interpreting blueprints, utilizing both standard and metric measurements, and operating sheet metal machinery. A practical assessment and written exam will be part of the hiring process.
Key Responsibilities:
Fabricate and install ductwork, venting systems, metal containers, and exhaust systems. Interpret and work from blueprints, technical drawings, and shop sketches. Use shop math and measurement tools (standard and metric) for layout and fabrication. Set up and operate various sheet metal machines, including brakes, shears, and rollers. Ensure accuracy and precision in fabrication by measuring, marking, and cutting materials to specifications. Maintain safety, cleanliness, and organization in the work area. Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years of sheet metal or related craft experience (joiner, shipfitting, carpentry). Proficient in reading blueprints and working with both imperial and metric systems. Ability to pass a hands-on skills assessment and written test. Familiarity with sheet metal tools and fabrication processes. Must be safety-conscious and physically capable of performing demanding tasks.
Testing Overview:

$147/day (up to $18.38/hr, 8 hrs/day)
