Sheet Metal Worker (Fabrication/Welding)

- Running CAD Press Brakes
- 1/4" capacity 10' shear
- 8" slip rollers
- Knowledge/ability to form and weld complex projects from shop-supplied blueprints
Summary:
Sheet Metal Workers should report to the Production manager each day to see what needs to be completed. Sheet Metal Workers will perform the following duties: Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment, and other plates that need to be formed. Work may involve any of the following: setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal; shaping metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using hammer; operating soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts; or inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Maintain equipment, make repairs or modifications when necessary. Fasten seams or joints together with welds, bolts, rivets, solder, metal drive clips, or bonds to assemble components into products or to repair sheet metal items. Transport prefabricated parts to other factory locations for assembly and installation. Hire, train, or supervise new employees or apprentices. Lay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on material, such as sheet goods, using calculators, scribes, dividers, squares, or rulers. Fabricate or alter parts at shop, using shears, hammers, punches, or drills. Determine project requirements, such as scope, assembly sequences, or required methods or materials, using blueprints, drawings, or written or verbal instructions. Select gauges or types of sheet metal or nonmetallic material, according to product specifications. Shape metal material over anvils, blocks, or other forms, using hand tools. Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, or smooth surfaces, seams, or joints of assembled parts, using hand tools or portable power tools. Inspect individual parts, assemblies, or installations, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, scales, or micrometers. Run CNC breaks, 10' shears, 6' Roller and/or pipe bending machine. Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
