Responsibilities Operate and set up a variety of fabrication machines including press brakes, CNC laser cutters, plasma cutters, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, and forming machines to produce sheet metal components. Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications accurately to ensure precise fabrication of HVAC ductwork and sheet metal parts. Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools to verify dimensions and maintain quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. Perform forming, cutting, and assembly tasks with attention to safety protocols and quality control measures. Program CNC machinery using CAD/CAM software for efficient production runs while adhering to safety standards in machining environments. Conduct routine maintenance on fabrication equipment and troubleshoot machine issues promptly to minimize downtime. Follow shop math principles for accurate measurement calculations necessary for fabrication accuracy and quality assurance. Skills Proficiency with CNC programming, laser cutting, plasma cutting, machining tools, and press brake operation. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings (GD&T) and mechanical blueprints. Experience with sheet metal fabrication processes including forming, stamping, welding, and assembly. Skilled in using hand tools, measuring instruments, tooling setups, and quality inspection techniques for precision measurement. Knowledge of safety standards in manufacturing environments including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety protocol adherence. Ability to operate forklifts safely when handling raw materials or finished products. Basic shop math skills combined with an understanding of manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production workflows.
