The Sheet Metal Mechanic is responsible for the fabrication, installation, modification, and repair of sheet metal and mechanical systems for commercial and industrial projects. This position supports operations locally in San Antonio and, when required, on out-of-state or international project assignments while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and workmanship.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal components such as ductwork, HVAC systems, and mechanical enclosures
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, shop drawings, and specifications
Measure, cut, bend, and shape sheet metal using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment
Install HVAC, ventilation, exhaust, and air-handling systems per project requirements
Ensure compliance with applicable mechanical codes, project specifications, and IMS quality standards
Perform inspections, testing, adjustments, and minor troubleshooting of installed systems
Follow safety policies and OSHA regulations at all job sites
Coordinate work with supervisors, project managers, engineers, and other trades
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and organized condition
Travel to job sites as required (local, regional, or international)
Complete work assignments within scheduled timelines
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Minimum 3-5 years of sheet metal or mechanical trade experience
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and metal fabrication equipment
Knowledge of HVAC systems and sheet metal installation practices
Strong understanding of job-site safety requirements
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
Journeyman sheet metal certification or completed apprenticeship
Experience on commercial or industrial mechanical projects
Experience working on government, military, or international projects
Ability to read both imperial and metric measurements
Valid passport or ability to obtain one
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
