Full Job Description Commercial Solar Service Technician Location:
Chandler, AZ (Servicing the Phoenix Valley & Statewide)
Job Type:
Full-Time, Hourly Schedule:
Monday to Friday (Occasional overnight travel with advanced notice; hotel and per diem covered)
The Opportunity:
Long-Term Commercial O&M Partnerships Commercial customers across the valley don't just need a solar installation; they require a dedicated, long-term Operations & Maintenance (O&M) partner to protect and maximize their large-scale energy investments. Because commercial solar operates at a much larger and more complex scale—often up to 2 MW in size—these businesses rely on the deep expertise and stability of an established provider. Sun Valley Solar Solutions has been a trusted industry leader for 20 years. While we offer the top-tier resources and benefits of a large corporation, we fiercely maintain the supportive, collaborative feel of a smaller business. If you have a diversified background in building and maintaining high-capacity commercial systems and want to build a long-term career with a company known for its quality and stability, we want you on our team. What You Will Do in the Field Based locally in the field with a company-issued work vehicle, you will operate independently or with a team to ensure large-scale commercial systems run safely and at peak performance.
Commercial O&M & Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and repair large-scale commercial installations, isolating ground faults, down inverters, down strings, and bad panels on systems up to 2 MW.
Commissioning & Testing:
Perform insulation testing, I-V curve testing, thermal imagery, and OEM testing using tools like Fluke IR cameras.
Networking & Monitoring:
Install, configure, and troubleshoot commercial-scale monitoring equipment.
System Upgrades & Modifications:
Perform uninstallations and reinstallations (R&R) for roof repairs, install EV charging stations, and assist with equipment warranty/RMA processes.
Documentation:
Accurately report findings and detail equipment (including serial numbers) using your laptop or phone via our field service CRM software. What You Bring to the Table Because of the massive scale and safety requirements of commercial solar, we are looking for highly detailed problem-solvers who possess a specialized, diversified background in large-scale PV.
Proven Commercial Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of directly related experience safely installing and maintaining large commercial PV systems (up to 2 MW in size).
Technical Acumen:
Ability to read and interpret complex electrical/structural plan sets, perform take-offs for ordering materials, and understand the NEC.
Advanced Safety Knowledge:
OSHA 30 and
NFPA-70E
training are extremely helpful and highly preferred to ensure safe operation around high-voltage commercial equipment.
Physical Mobility:
Ability to comfortably lift up to 60 lbs, climb ladders, navigate expansive commercial rooftops, and perform in varying Arizona weather conditions (This is a Safety-Sensitive role).
Clean Driving Record:
A valid driver's license and acceptance on our company auto insurance (no DUIs in the past 3 years). Compensation & Benefits We believe in taking care of the technicians who manage our clients' most valuable energy assets. Competitive hourly pay based on your specific commercial experience and certifications Company-issued work vehicle Comprehensive insurance including Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Retirement & Time Off featuring a 401(k) with company match and Paid Time Off (PTO) Drug Tests (excluding THC), Background Checks, and MVD reports will be performed on all final candidates. Employment eligibility is verified through E-Verify. Sun Valley Solar Solutions supports equity in our workplace.
