The Service Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of residential solar PV and battery storage systems through troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance. This position supports customer satisfaction by delivering timely, high-quality service and technical expertise in the field. The ideal candidate has strong electrical troubleshooting experience, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work independently in the field. This role regularly interacts with homeowners and requires excellent communication skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair solar PV and battery storage systems. Perform service calls, inspections, warranty work, and preventative maintenance activities. Troubleshoot electrical, monitoring, communication, and production-related system issues. Perform system testing and verification to ensure proper operation and performance. Document service activities, findings, repairs, and recommendations accurately and completely. Educate customers on system operation, maintenance, and best practices. Maintain company safety standards and properly utilize required PPE at all times. Safely operate company vehicles and maintain tools and equipment. Travel locally to customer homes and job sites as needed. Participate in on-call, emergency response, or after-hours service activities as required. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience troubleshooting residential solar PV systems. Experience working with battery energy storage systems, including Tesla Powerwall, Enphase IQ Battery, and FranklinWH systems. Experience bending and installing conduit. Knowledge of residential electrical systems and troubleshooting techniques. Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and motor vehicle record (MVR) that meets company requirements. NABCEP certification or electrical certification preferred.

Abilities:
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for solar PV and battery storage systems. Working knowledge of inverters, monitoring platforms, rapid shutdown devices, and battery storage equipment. Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, plans, and technical documentation. Experience using electrical testing equipment, including multimeters and clamp meters. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to work independently while managing multiple service calls and priorities. Ability to safely work in confined spaces and on rooftops of varying heights and pitch.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb throughout the workday. Ability to safely work on rooftops, ladders, and elevated work surfaces. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to occasionally lift and move objects weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance. Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment. Ability to distinguish colors for electrical wiring and equipment identification. Ability to safely work in confined spaces when required. Ability to drive to customer sites and operate a company vehicle regularly. Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures.
