We move fast, care deeply about customers, and do things the right way. About the Role OC Solar is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Solar Installer to join our field installation team. The Solar Installer works under the direction of a Solar Foreman or Crew Lead to install high-quality solar photovoltaic systems on residential, commercial, and other assigned projects. This is a hands-on construction position involving frequent roof work, ladder use, material handling, outdoor work, and travel to customer properties. The ideal candidate takes ownership of their workmanship, follows plans and safety procedures, protects customer property, and works effectively as part of a field crew. Key Responsibilities Install solar modules, racking, attachments, flashing, grounding and bonding components, conduit, roof-mounted equipment, and related system components according to approved plans, manufacturer instructions, and company standards. Lay out array locations and complete roof penetrations, structural attachments, rail installation, module placement, rail cutting, jumper connections, and other assigned installation work. Bend and install conduit and assist with routing conductors and system components within the employee's training and authorization. Properly flash and weatherproof roof penetrations to protect the customer's property and prevent water intrusion. Remove and replace roof tiles or other roofing materials when necessary to complete the installation. Flash and seal pipes, vents, attachments, and other roof penetrations affected by the work. Work on different roofing materials, roof heights, and pitches using required fall-protection systems and approved work practices. Follow project plans, installation instructions, equipment specifications, and directions from the Solar Foreman or Crew Lead. Identify and immediately report plan conflicts, damaged roofing, unsafe conditions, missing materials, installation obstacles, or other conditions that may affect the project. Complete required project photographs and documentation using Site Capture or other company-designated applications. Assist with project staging, material loading and unloading, ladder setup, equipment preparation, site protection, and end-of-day cleanup. Protect roofing, landscaping, customer property, vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials throughout the installation. Maintain an organized and professional jobsite and leave the customer's property clean at the completion of the work. Properly use, inspect, maintain, and secure company vehicles, ladders, tools, PPE, and equipment. Support and guide less-experienced installers and helpers when directed by the Solar Foreman or Crew Lead. Attend required safety meetings, training sessions, and product-specific instruction. Maintain knowledge of assigned products, installation methods, manufacturer requirements, and applicable company procedures. Promptly report injuries, near misses, vehicle incidents, property damage, defective equipment, and safety concerns. Perform other related installation duties as assigned. The Solar Installer must:

Follow all company safety policies, project-specific requirements, and applicable Cal/OSHA standards. Use required fall protection while performing roof work and remain properly connected to approved systems as required. Inspect ladders, harnesses, anchors, ropes, lifelines, connectors, tools, and PPE before use. Maintain awareness of roof edges, skylights, fragile surfaces, overhead electrical lines, weather, heat, animals, traffic, and other site hazards. Stop work and immediately notify the Foreman or Crew Lead when conditions are unsafe or required safety protections are unavailable. Wear required PPE, including appropriate footwear, gloves, eye protection, hard hat, and fall-protection equipment. Use tools and equipment only when trained, authorized, and able to do so safely. Follow company heat-illness prevention, ladder-safety, electrical-safety, driving, and incident-reporting procedures. Required Qualifications At least one year of solar installation, roofing, construction, electrical, or related field experience preferred. Ability to safely use common construction and solar-installation hand and power tools. Basic understanding of roofing materials, roof penetrations, flashing, weatherproofing, racking, and module installation. Ability to read and follow project plans, equipment layouts, measurements, and written installation instructions. Ability to follow detailed safety procedures and direction from the Foreman or Crew Lead. Strong attention to workmanship, property protection, and jobsite organization. Dependable attendance and ability to report to the assigned office, warehouse, or project site on time. Ability to work productively as part of a crew in a fast-paced construction environment. Ability to use a smartphone or tablet for project photographs, timekeeping, communication, and documentation. Valid California driver's license and an acceptable driving record when driving is an assigned responsibility. Ability to travel to project sites throughout the assigned service territory. Ability to complete required company safety, equipment, product, and installation training. Preferred Qualifications Previous residential or commercial solar installation experience. Experience installing solar racking, modules, roof attachments, flashing, conduit, grounding, and bonding components. Roofing, electrical, battery-storage, Tesla Solar Roof, or general construction experience. OSHA 10 certification. Fall-protection and ladder-safety training. Familiarity with Site Capture or comparable field-documentation applications. Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills. Physical and Work Environment Requirements The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including the ability to: Regularly lift, carry, push, pull, and position tools, ladders, solar modules, racking, and construction materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Perform team lifts and use mechanical assistance for heavier or awkward materials. Climb, position, secure, and work from ladders. Work at heights and on pitched roofs using required fall protection. Frequently stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, reach, grip, and use repetitive hand and arm movements. Work outdoors in heat, direct sunlight, cold, wind, dust, and changing weather conditions. Work around roofing materials, electrical equipment, construction debris, insulation, noise, insects, animals, and other common jobsite conditions. Safely operate hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and assigned installation equipment. Travel between the company's facility and customer project sites. Work schedules that may vary based on travel, project requirements, weather, daylight, and operational needs.
