Various job sites (residential & commercial) Position Summary The Lead Solar Technician is responsible for overseeing and performing the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning of residential and commercial solar PV systems. This role requires strong solar experience, technical expertise, leadership abilities, and the capability to guide crews and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Crew Oversight Lead and supervise installation crews on-site. Assign daily tasks, ensure productivity, and maintain workflow. Train new technicians and provide ongoing guidance to team members. Communicate with Project Managers and Coordinators regarding progress, issues, and scheduling. Solar Installation & Technical Work Install solar PV systems, including modules, racking, inverters, conduit, wiring, and grounding. Perform site layout, array measurements, equipment placement, and system configuration. Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and repairs. Complete commissioning tasks, including inverter setup, monitoring activation, and system verification. Quality Assurance & Safety Ensure installations meet NEC, local jurisdiction requirements, and company quality standards. Conduct QC inspections during and after installation. Follow and enforce all safety policies, OSHA guidelines, and jobsite procedures. Maintain accurate documentation, photos, and system reports. Customer & Stakeholder Communication Address customer questions or concerns professionally on-site. Represent the company with a high level of professionalism and technical confidence. Coordinate with electricians, roofers, utility personnel, and other subcontractors as needed. QualificationsRequired 2-5+ years of solar installation or solar electrical experience Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters (Enphase, SolarEdge, Tesla etc.), and monitoring platforms Ability to read and interpret one-lines, site plans, and electrical diagrams Experience leading crews or functioning in a lead or senior technician role Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and PV installation equipment Valid driver's license and clean driving record Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, work on roofs, and work in various weather conditions Preferred Electrical experience or apprenticeship background OSHA 10 or 30 certification PV Installation Professional Experience with commissioning and troubleshooting complex systems Key Competencies Leadership & team management Strong troubleshooting ability Communication skills Attention to detail Problem-solving & independence Safety-focused mindset
