A Solar Installer installs solar energy systems for homes or larger buildings. Mounts frames and solar panels on the roof; may install and connect electrical wiring and power storage batteries.
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Solar PV Maintenance and Service Technician to join our team. The technician will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity. This role involves both preventative maintenance and emergency repair, with a focus on ensuring systems meet the highest performance standards and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct routine maintenance on solar PV systems, including inspecting, cleaning, and testing system components. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with solar PV systems, such as inverter failures, module faults, wiring problems, and monitoring system errors. Repair and replace defective components such as inverters, combiner boxes, panels, and wiring. Perform electrical and mechanical inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and local codes. Monitor system performance using digital tools and software to detect and address underperforming components. Document all maintenance activities, system performance reports, and any repairs conducted. Provide technical support and training to clients on system operation and maintenance. Work collaboratively with the installation team to ensure system integrity and optimal performance. Stay updated with industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices in solar PV maintenance. Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical school training is preferred. Certification in solar PV installation, maintenance, or a related field (e.g., NABCEP). 2+ years of experience in solar PV system maintenance, electrical systems, or related technical fields. Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems related to solar PV installations. Ability to use diagnostic tools, electrical testing devices, and specialized software for system monitoring. Knowledge of local and national electrical codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Physical ability to work outdoors, on rooftops, and in various weather conditions. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to different job sites.
Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed outdoors, including on rooftops and in confined spaces. The position requires travel to various sites. Must be able to lift heavy equipment and work in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with solar PV monitoring systems and data analysis tools. OSHA certification or other safety training. Experience working with commercial-scale PV systems.
