$19.23-$25.63 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications Position Summary SolQ is seeking a motivated and dependable Residential Solar Installer to join our installation team in Urbana, IL. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and is interested in building a career in the renewable energy industry. As a Residential Solar Installer, you will help install and maintain residential solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. You will work closely with the installation crew to prepare job sites, install solar equipment, troubleshoot installation issues, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to applicable requirements. Responsibilities Install residential solar PV systems on rooftops and other approved structures. Prepare installation sites and take measurements to support accurate system placement. Assemble and install solar panels, modules, racking systems, mounting hardware, and related equipment. Follow blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and project specifications. Assist with electrical components and connections within the scope of the position. Inspect completed installations to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with applicable codes and company standards. Identify, troubleshoot, and help resolve solar installation issues. Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and adjustments to solar equipment as needed. Work collaboratively with the installation team to complete projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Communicate professionally with homeowners and provide a positive customer experience throughout the installation process. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas. Follow company safety procedures and safe practices for working at heights and around electrical equipment. Required Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. At least 1 year of hands-on solar installation experience preferred. Basic knowledge of electrical systems, tools, and components. Ability to read and follow blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to safely work on rooftops and at elevated heights. Ability to perform the physical duties associated with solar installation, including climbing, lifting, carrying, bending, and standing for extended periods. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Professional communication and customer-service skills. Preferred Qualifications 1-2 years of residential solar PV installation experience. Technical or vocational training in solar installation, electrical work, construction, or a related field. NABCEP certification or progress toward an industry-recognized solar credential. Experience with residential rooftop solar installation and mounting systems. Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position is performed primarily at residential job sites and involves indoor and outdoor work. The role requires the ability to safely climb ladders, lift and carry equipment and materials, bend, reach, stand for extended periods, and perform other physical tasks associated with solar installation.
