Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and skilled Solar Electrician Technician to join our dynamic renewable energy team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting photovoltaic (solar) systems on various types of commercial and residential projects. Your expertise will ensure that solar energy systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all electrical codes and safety standards. Duties Install photovoltaic solar systems according to blueprints, schematics, and electrical codes such as NEC (National Electrical Code) standards. Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to ensure precise system setup. Perform electrical wiring, fixture installation, and connection of high voltage and low voltage components within solar arrays. Conduct electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify system faults or inefficiencies using voltmeters, multimeters, and other hand tools. Ensure all work complies with NFPA 70 (National Fire Protection Association) safety standards and electrical safety procedures. Use ladders safely for roof penetrations or system mounting; work effectively at heights during rooftop installations. Maintain detailed documentation of installation processes, inspections, testing results, and maintenance logs. Collaborate with construction teams on site setup, roofing work, and integration of solar systems into existing electrical infrastructure. Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to optimize system performance over time. Adhere strictly to outdoor work safety protocols while working in various weather conditions on construction sites or rooftops. Skills Strong knowledge of high voltage (HV) and low voltage electrical systems used in photovoltaic installations. Proficiency reading electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams accurately. Experience with NEC (National Electrical Code) requirements for solar power systems and NFPA 70 compliance standards. Commercial electrician experience with a focus on renewable energy projects preferred; construction site experience is a plus. Hands-on experience working as a solar technician or in photovoltaic system installation projects. Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems efficiently using diagnostic tools like voltmeters and multimeters. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, fixtures installation equipment, and ladder use for rooftop work. Knowledge of electrical safety procedures specific to outdoor environments and rooftop installations. Construction experience including roofing work enhances ability to coordinate seamlessly during system setup.
