POSITION NOTICE
Position Title:
Art Facilitator - Soaring Arts Reports to:
Adult Day Services Supervisor Hours:
40 hours per week. Occasional weekend and evenings outside of regular hours will be required.
Job Summary:
Filling Homes is a social ministry that provides a full range of services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Soaring Arts is a community based art studio and adult day program in downtown Napoleon, Ohio. We are currently seeking a creative and energetic person with a background in the creative arts who also has a commitment to providing quality life experiences for people with disabilities. Join Our Team - and make a difference in the lives of others! In conjunction with the other Art Program staff and the Community Art Coordinator, assist in the design and implementation of creative art activities that meet the needs of the persons that are enrolled in our day program. Provide one-on-one and small group instruction in a variety of creative art mediums at the studio. Assist participants to discover their art interests and abilities. Utilize technology and adaptive equipment to support and enhance the creativity of the artists and increase independent functioning of each person. Assist the program staff as needed in meeting the personal needs of individuals receiving art services in daily living skills. Helping artists envision new projects and assisting in learning new techniques. Must have a high school diploma or GED. A degree in fine art or a minimum of two years of experience in applied Fine Arts is preferred. Knowledge and experience with pottery preferred. Must have demonstrated ability to teach art to others Must be able to relate well with people with disabilities.
