Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a fulfilling contract role as a Sign Language Interpreter, supporting a middle school student in a vibrant educational environment. This full-time, onsite opportunity runs from mid-August through late May, providing consistent daytime hours and the chance to make a meaningful impact each day. You'll work in close partnership with a single student, facilitating seamless communication in the classroom and throughout the school. This role is ideal for professionals with a passion for supporting student success who enjoy engaging with a dynamic school community.
Qualifications and Experience:
Current Interpreter License for the state is required Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL); bilingual fluency highly preferred for at least one position Previous experience interpreting in educational or school settings is a strong asset Ability to provide clear, accurate, and confidential interpretation in both academic and social settings Flexible, collaborative, and professional demeanor Commitment to attending the full school day
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction, group activities, and school communications for a 1:1 middle school caseload Adapt interpreting techniques to support comprehension and participation Serve as a language and cultural bridge between the student, educators, and peers Maintain professional standards of ethics and confidentiality Collaborate with school staff to ensure inclusive educational experiences
