About McCall Oil & Chemical Corporation McCall is a family-owned petroleum and asphalt company that has operated in the Pacific Northwest for nearly 90 years. Our Prineville facility is a rail-served asphalt terminal supporting paving and industrial customers across Central and Eastern Oregon. Position Summary McCall is seeking a dependable Asphalt Plant Operator to support night-shift operations at our Prineville terminal. This role focuses on safe equipment operation, hot product handling, railcar offload, and supporting overnight production. The position is best suited for someone comfortable working independently in an industrial environment and able to adapt to seasonal demand fluctuations. Key Responsibilities Operate and monitor asphalt plant equipment, heaters, pumps, and transfer systems during night shift Start up, shut down, and adjust plant systems as required Receive and offload asphalt railcars in coordination with City of Prineville Railway Monitor product temperatures, material flows, tank levels, and production conditions Load and unload asphalt and related materials safely Perform routine inspections, basic maintenance, and housekeeping Identify, document, and report mechanical or operational issues Respond to spills, alarms, and operational upsets per site emergency procedures Communicate clearly with supervisors, day-shift personnel, and after-hours on-call leadership Follow all safety, environmental, FRA rail safety, and operating procedures Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and DOT-style drug screen Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn plant operations Ability to work nights and variable seasonal schedules Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong safety awareness and attention to detail Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in asphalt plants, refineries, terminals, or industrial facilities Experience with pumps, valves, heaters, or process equipment Experience handling railcars or working at rail-served facilities Background in maintenance, fabrication, or equipment operation HAZWOPER, HAZMAT, or PEC SafeLand certification (Training will be provided for the right candidate.) Physical Requirements Climb stairs, ladders, and railcar access platforms multiple times per shift Lift up to 50 lbs Operate manual valves requiring sustained physical force Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and snow Work safely around hot asphalt (product temperatures exceed 300°F) Wear required PPE including FR clothing, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and face shield Work Environment Industrial rail-served plant setting Exposure to heat, noise, odors, and outdoor weather Hot product handling Night shift requires reliability, self-direction, and the ability to work with minimal on-site supervision Schedule Full-time night shift position. Overtime is available during peak paving season. After-hours support and on-call coverage may be required.
