About Hilman, Inc. Hilman, Inc. designs, engineers, and manufactures high-capacity rollers, powered heavy moving systems, and custom load moving solutions. For moving, installing, and relocating heavy machinery and large equipment; Hilman provides easy, safe, and cost-effective solutions to a wide range of industries. Purpose of this job Our Assembly team is made of hands-on craftsmen with a passion for building and creating. You will play a key role in our production process installing bearings and chain rollers on product frames, assembling Tri-Glides, Bull Dollies, and Omni-Skates, affixing product labels, and painting raw steel in our signature Hilman green. What you'll do You will report to our Production Manager in the Production department. After the Assembly team receives work orders from our Estimating/Planning Manager, our Lead Assembler delegates the work depending on complexity, availability, etc. Our Lead Assembler and Warehouse team will deliver the products you need directly to your workstation. Review our Open Order and Sales Order Reports daily to identify and prioritize tasks. Use our shop computer to record hours spent on work orders. You'll scan your badge to start and end your day and as you begin and complete jobs. Read and thoroughly understand a work order, then determine and gather the required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job. Product blueprints are available for you to read on our shop computer. Ensure all components are properly fitted and meet customer specifications by utilizing both manual and machine tools, including riveters, pipe threaders, pneumatic presses, hand tools, impact guns, socket wrenches, and pliers, to achieve high precision. Regularly self-monitor your output to ensure only the highest quality. Our Quality Control team will inspect your work before completed product is added to our inventory and/or shipped directly to our customers. Maintain, organize, and clean equipment in your work area to not compromise safety. Notify the Lead Assembler or Production Manager when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered. Perform other duties as assigned. Who you are Previous experience in assembly or a similar role is helpful, but not required - we'll teach you everything you need to know to be successful. You are mechanically minded and naturally curious about how things work. You have a strong attention to detail. You are a hands-on individual who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty in an industrial manufacturing environment. Physical demands and work environment Prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks. Continually required to stand and occasionally required to walk. Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity. Occasionally required to bend, stoop, or kneel. Frequently required to talk or hear. Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and use a shop computer. Continually required to safely lift/push/carry items up to and more than 50 pounds. Frequent work near moving mechanical parts. Frequent work around fumes (examples: acetone, paint, paint thinner, forklift, etc.) Occasional loud noise (examples: impact gun, barrel sander, etc.) Additional remarks regarding work environment: Hilman, Inc. provides all safety equipment.
