Job Description:
The Assistant Director & Civil Rights Investigator supports the College's Office of Title IX and Equity Compliance by conducting investigations, assisting with case management, and serving as a key point of contact for reports of sex- and gender[AF1] -based misconduct as well as race, disability, and other identities protected by institutional policies, federal and state law while fostering a campus environment grounded in equity, respect, and accountability. This role reports directly to the Director of Title IX & Institutional Equity to ensure prompt, equitable, and thorough resolution of cases. The Civil Rights Investigator also serves as a trained campus resource, helping to facilitate reporting, provide information, and support compliance efforts.
Key Responsibilities Investigations:
Conduct prompt, thorough, and equitable investigations into complaints of sexual misconduct, harassment, and related violations; Interview parties and witnesses, gather evidence, and prepare detailed investigative reports; Apply a trauma-informed and impartial approach throughout the process.
Intake & Case Support:
Assist with and/or independently conduct initial intake meetings and assessment of reports; Provide information to parties about rights, resources, and process options; Support the Director in managing case flow and timelines.
Training & Outreach:
Assist in delivering training programs for students, faculty, staff, investigators, decision makers, advisors, and other stakeholders in collaboration with the Director of Title IX and Institutional Equity and Office of Wellness and Violence Prevention; Participate in prevention and awareness initiatives; Support outreach efforts to increase understanding of all relevant institutional policies and processes.
Documentation & Compliance:
Maintain accurate and secure case records; Assist with data tracking, reporting, and compliance documentation.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required. 2-4 years of relevant experience (Title IX, student conduct, HR, investigations, or related field). Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations or fact-finding processes. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Required Qualifications:
Experience in higher education. Experience with Maxient conduct software. Formal training in Title IX investigations. Knowledge of trauma-informed practices. Experience facilitating trainings or workshops.
Reporting Structure:
Reports to: Director of Title IX & Institutional Equity Works closely with: VP/Title IX Coordinator, campus partners, and external investigators
Salary Range:
75,000 to $80,000 annually
