Job Description
Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our coaching staff at Winlock High School as an Assistant High School Football Coach. (8-Man Football) The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of football fundamentals, a commitment to student-athlete development, and the ability to foster a positive and competitive team environment. This full-time position requires collaboration with the head coach and other coaching staff to enhance the overall football program and support the growth of our student-athletes both on and off the field. Responsibilities Assist the head coach in planning and implementing effective practice sessions and game strategies. Support the development of individual players by providing instruction on techniques, skills, and game concepts. Help manage the team's daily operations, including practice schedules, game preparations, and travel arrangements. Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among players. Monitor and evaluate player performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement. Collaborate with other coaches and staff to ensure a cohesive approach to player development and program goals. Assist in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, promoting the benefits of participation in the football program. Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations. Ensure compliance with school and district policies, as well as state and national athletic regulations. Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with coaching techniques and strategies. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field preferred. Previous coaching experience at the high school level or higher, particularly in football. Strong knowledge of football rules, strategies, and techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes. Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff, administration, and parents. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment. First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain upon hiring. Must be able to pass a background check and adhere to all school district policies. Flexible schedule, including availability for evening and weekend practices and games.
