Assistant Kitchen Manager

Job Overview The Shuckin' Shack Assistant Kitchen Manager, will be a person with the passion to please people through their talents as a Culinarian and supervision of our Line Cooks, Prep Cooks and Dishwashers per Kitchen Manager request. The AKM will have gained culinary training either through school or work experience. At Shuckin' Shack, we sell seafood and strong background working with fresh fish, shellfish and more is desired. Under direction of the Kitchen Manager, the AKM will lead his or her team, on a shift-by-shift basis, leading by example and mentoring to improve the talents of the Culinary team. The AKM will also maintain the highest standard of cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen. At The Shuckin' Shack we work as a team and when help is needed, we all jump in together, you will be asked to help the Dishwashers, Line Cooks and Prep Cooks at various times to maintain the quality, consistency and timeliness of our menu to our guest. Required Experience:

Culinary experience in a high-volume restaurant or Culinary School Training.

Required Knowledge:

• Intermediate or Expert cooking terminology.
• Intermediate or Expert understanding of food items, kitchen tools, and equipment.
• Intermediate reading skills for following recipes and build file directions.
• Food Sanitation and Safety (can acquire upon hire).

Required Skills:

• A passion for a culinary career.
• Utilizing, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen equipment.
• Cooking basics.

Required Abilities:

• Able to stand and walk for an 8-hour shift.
• Able to read and interpret written instructions.
• Able to have the dexterity necessary to manipulate cooking tools and equipment properly.
• Able to communicate with staff and management effectively.
• Able to manage multiple activities at once and prioritize effectively.
• Able to lift 50 lbs.

Essential Job Duties:

• Able to work with Kitchen Manager and take instruction where necessary.
• To produce the highest quality products for our guests every shift.
• Assist in ordering product when requested by Kitchen Manager
• Prepare and cook foods as ordered and printed on tickets, found on kitchen printer/computer.
• Plate foods according to specifications and standards.
• Ensure foods prepared are in accordance with the US FDA Food Code.
• Keep kitchen equipment cleaned and maintained according to checklists, and as directed.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines as required.

Pay:

$19.00 - $24.00 per hour
