Job Description

The Dawg House is seeking a reliable, hands-on Assistant Operations Manager to support daily kennel operations while assisting the General Manager in maintaining structure, safety, and team accountability. This is a working leadership position, meaning you will be actively involved on the floor with dogs and staff while also taking on operational responsibilities as needed. This role is ideal for someone who is ready to grow into higher-level management and thrives in a fast-paced, structured environment. Key Responsibilities Kennel & Dog Handling Operations Supervise and safely manage group play and individual dog interactions Monitor dog behavior and identify early signs of stress or escalation Assist with feeding, cleaning, medication administration, and daily care routines Ensure all dogs are handled according to company safety standards and placement protocols Team Support & Leadership Act as a shift leader when needed, ensuring staff stay on task and follow procedures Reinforce company SOPs and maintain consistency across all shifts Support onboarding and training of new team members Assist in addressing performance issues and communicating expectations clearly Operational Support Assist the General Manager with daily operations, scheduling support, and task delegation Help maintain cleanliness, organization, and overall facility standards Ensure all checklists, logs, and required documentation are completed accurately Step into leadership responsibilities when the GM is unavailable Client Interaction Provide professional and friendly communication with clients during check-in and pick-up Address basic client questions and escalate concerns to management when appropriate Qualifications Previous experience in a dog daycare, boarding facility, veterinary, or animal care setting preferred Prior leadership or shift lead experience strongly preferred Strong understanding of dog behavior and group play dynamics Ability to remain calm, assertive, and in control in high-energy environments Strong communication and problem-solving skills Reliable, accountable, and team-oriented Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods Comfortable handling dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments Ability to lift 40+ lbs and perform cleaning duties as needed Schedule Expectations Must be available for weekends, holidays, and peak seasons Flexible scheduling based on operational needs What We're Looking For We are not just looking for someone who loves dogs—we are looking for someone who can lead, enforce structure, and support operations.

Pay:
$14.00 - $16.00 per hour
