General Summary:
The assistant/associate/professor will be assigned teaching responsibilities as a faculty member in the department. This position reports to Chair of the Department of Medicine. The faculty member is in a non-tenured position with a focus on teaching in the College of Osteopathic Medicine program. This position participates and assists the Department Chair and colleagues in the development and implementation of curricula which integrate the medical specialties in team-based, large and small group learning environments. Primary teaching assignments include clinical skills and decision making, and topics relevant to the practice of internal medicine. Typical responsibilities for this position primarily include classroom teaching for students in the second year of medical school. During the six weeks of the Nervous System course, CLIN 628 (typically scheduled between the end of September and the beginning of November) the physician is expected to be on campus for eight hours on at least 10 work days, including open office hours for student inquiries each day on campus. On days ofCLIN 628
when the physician is off campus, the physician will be expected to be available to answer telephone calls and emails. The physician will be personally responsible for not less than 21 hours of educational programming. In addition, the physician will work with the co-course director to plan and review curriculum, assign lectures and assure their completion, and review (and if necessary, adjust) testing scores. Curriculum and lecture preparation should be accomplished, at least in part, prior to the 30 days of the course itself.Essential Job Functions:

Requirements Education:
Required:
- Professional degree (D.O., M.D.) from an accredited institution of higher education
- Completion of an internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship; currently board eligible or board certified in internal medicine, by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine or the American Board of Internal Medicine, and in Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Association
- Current medical license in any state; preference to those who have licensing in the state of Washington
- Current DEA certification

Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination Experience:
- Prior teaching experience in academic setting
- Possess exceptional credentials in scholarly, professional and/or individual achievement
