ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The REED Autism Services PATH Transition Program is a two-year certificate program held on Felician University's Rutherford campus. The program blends classroom learning with real-world experiences and focuses on: Community engagement Employment readiness Self-determination Personal management Students actively participate in campus life, including attending events, accessing services such as career services and counseling and wellness, and utilizing campus amenities like the computer lab and fitness center. The program is approved by the New Jersey Department of Education and registered as a community vendor with the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD).POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate Classroom Instructor/job coach supports lead instructors in delivering classroom and community-based instruction for neurodiverse college transition students. This role involves hands-on support in the classroom, on campus, and during vocational training experiences, helping students build independence, social skills, and employment readiness.QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree OR at least 2 years of college coursework OR equivalent experience in social work, education, special education, psychology, human development, or related field Experience working with neurodiverse individuals (e.g., autism, ADHD, ADD, anxiety, depression) in educational, counseling, or support settings Experience in tutoring, teaching, volunteering, or working on a high school, adult education, or college campus preferred Experience with classroom management, curriculum support, or lesson planning Ability to support a small group classroom of 6-8 students with autismPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Classroom Support Deliver instruction using the Learn4Independence® curriculum under classroom instructor guidance Support implementation and modification of curriculum to meet student learning needs Assist in developing lesson plans and classroom activities Encourage student engagement and application of skills to daily life Support students during on-campus activities and off-campus field trips Provide input on student evaluations, progress, and goal development Promote independence, self-determination, and positive social participation Work-Based Learning / Vocational Support Support students in developing vocational and employment readiness skills Assist in teaching job skills using the Learn4Independence® curriculum Help develop additional vocational activities and learning experiences Support students in practicing job skills through multiple formats Assist students with understanding schedules, transportation, and work expectations Provide support at work-based learning sites when required Assist with job exploration, searching, and applications when appropriate Program Responsibilities Participate in initial and ongoing training and professional development Complete daily documentation and assigned tasks within required timeframes Follow organizational policies, procedures, and confidentiality standards Maintain professional communication with staff, students, families, and community partners Demonstrate respect, integrity, kindness, and professionalism in all interactions Collaborate with team members and remain open to feedback and direction Assist with administrative tasks and other duties as assigned by the DirectorWHY JOIN REED AUTISM SERVICES?
