Job Description

Description Associate Scientist, Microbiology Department:
R D Microbiology Reports To:
Associate Director R D Microbiology Position Summary Local Position Summary Responsible for executing lab tasks to contribute to the design and development of high quality products on time, within budget, and with a high degree of customer satisfaction. Primary Duties Local Position Duties Execute biological testing needed for assay development and system verification activities according to good lab practice. Collaborate with other lab scientists to execute testing protocols and workflows within the lab. Ensures that the project results and files are accurately documented and compliant with the company quality assurance and design control procedures. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, ISO) and comply with biohazard safety standards. Handles biological samples, including human blood and sterile body fluids. Prepare, maintain and manipulate microorganisms. Prepares reagents (buffers, solvents, antibiotics, diluents) used for testing. Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education, Training and Experience High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required. 5 years of lab experience in a regulated environment with a High School Diploma — Life Sciences, Biomedical, Microbiology, related science field Preferred Education, Training and Experience Associate's or Bachelors degree in scientific field;
Fields of Knowledge:
Microbiology preferred, Biology, Clinical Microbiology, or Medical Technology Basic understanding of skills necessary for good laboratory safety, aseptic technique, and basic Microbiology/Molecular technique Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Consistently upholds and reflects the core ethical principles and values that bioMérieux promotes. Thriving in a fast-paced environment by managing tasks, multitasking, and adapting quickly to maintain productivity. Detail orientation to complete tasks without errors and produce high-quality work. Written Communications - including the ability to communicate technical data in written form. Informing others by sharing clear, timely information to ensure alignment. Effective verbal communication skills. Basic Skills in MS Office tools to include but not limited to Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel Working Conditions and Physical Requirements (Summary) Ability to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods: Yes Ability to ascend/descend stairs, ladders, ramps: Yes Ability to wear PPE correctly most of the day: Yes Ability to operate heavy machinery: No Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds: No Domestic travel required: 0% International travel required: 0% Total travel: 0% The estimated salary range for this role in the state of North Carolina is between $29 and $40/hr. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux's bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate's experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
