Job Description
Introduction A growing small animal practice in Jerome, Idaho is seeking an Associate Veterinarian with large and small animal experience to join its three-doctor team. While the hospital is currently focused on companion animal medicine, it is actively working to rebuild and expand its large animal services, creating an exciting opportunity for a veterinarian who enjoys mixed practice and wants to help shape that growth. With the current Medical Director planning to retire within the next one to two years, there is a clear pathway for the right candidate to step into a future leadership role. Working Hours / Rota This is a full-time position within a collaborative team schedule designed to support high-quality patient care and sustainable work-life balance. The clinic operates during standard daytime hours, providing consistency for both small animal appointments and the gradual reintroduction of large animal services in the surrounding agricultural community. Role Description and Responsibilities The Associate Veterinarian will provide comprehensive care for small animal patients while playing a key role in re-establishing large animal services. Day-to-day responsibilities include wellness exams, diagnostics, dentistry, and soft tissue procedures, along with advanced orthopedic surgeries such as TPLO and fracture repair. As large animal services grow, the incoming veterinarian will help develop protocols, strengthen client relationships within the farming community, and contribute to shaping the future direction of the practice. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential. For candidates with leadership aspirations, mentorship and succession planning are in place to support a gradual transition into a Medical Director role. Practice Details The hospital is equipped with digital radiography, in-house laboratory diagnostics, and advanced surgical capabilities including orthopedic procedures. It combines progressive medicine with a friendly, community-centered approach, delivering high standards of care while maintaining the accessibility and warmth of a local practice. The opportunity to help guide the expansion back into mixed animal work adds variety and long-term professional growth. Team You will join a supportive team of three veterinarians who value teamwork, shared clinical insight, and professional development. The culture promotes autonomy within a cohesive structure, ensuring doctors feel empowered while never isolated. The environment is professional, approachable, and focused on long-term career sustainability.
