Job Summary:
Operating under the direction of the School Principal, the High School Athletic Director is responsible for overseeing all athletic and activity programs to ensure they operate in alignment with District 51, league, and CHSAA policies. The Athletic Director coordinates and manages all aspects of events, including scheduling, travel, staffing, and financial procedures, while promoting student safety, sportsmanship, and participation. This role ensures all eligibility, compliance, and documentation requirements are met and supports coaches and sponsors in maintaining high standards of conduct and performance. The Athletic Director also serves as a liaison between administration, coaches, families, and community partners to foster school spirit and student success. Job Responsibility Description Program Leadership and Compliance Maintain a thorough understanding of and ensure compliance with all District 51, league, and CHSAA policies and procedures Monitor student eligibility, physicals, and participation requirements prior to practice or competition Uphold standards of sportsmanship, ethics, and safety for all athletic and activity programs Ensure coaches, sponsors, and students adhere to district and state codes of conduct Event and Operations Management Coordinate, organize, and oversee all home athletic events and visiting team logistics Coordinate with the administrative team to ensure supervision and oversight of away events that involve local high schools Schedule game workers, officials, clock operators, scorekeepers, and other event personnel Manage ticketing, gate operations, and financial reporting for athletic events Coordinate athletic travel requests and logistics with the District Athletic Office Administrative and Financial Oversight Manage and maintain accurate records for contracts, inventories, purchasing, and compliance documentation Oversee student paperwork requirements including fees, insurance coverage, and eligibility lists Assist in developing, monitoring, and managing athletic and activity budgets Support purchasing and inventory control for athletic and activity programs Hire, supervise, and evaluate all athletic coaches and act as a resource and coordinator for all athletic coaches Communication and Community Engagement Promote athletic and activity achievements through press releases, school announcements, and the website Serve as liaison among administration, coaches, booster clubs, and community partners Facilitate consistent communication with families and staff to support program awareness and engagement Foster school spirit and positive community representation through athletics and activities Other Duties Additional tasks, duties, and responsibilities may be assigned as needed/requested
