Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Auto Dealership Office Manager/Controller to lead the financial operations of our automotive dealership. This pivotal role requires a proactive professional with a strong foundation in accounting principles, financial management, and regulatory compliance. As the Controller, you will oversee all accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, and maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations. Your expertise will drive efficient cash management, streamline financial processes, and support strategic decision-making to foster dealership growth and stability. Duties Manage and oversee all aspects of dealership accounting, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing. Ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory requirements specific to the automotive industry. Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and account reconciliation procedures to maintain accurate financial records. Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and regulatory filings. Oversee cash management activities, including forecasting, banking relationships, and daily cash flow monitoring. Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with governmental and non-profit accounting standards where applicable. Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms to streamline financial operations and improve reporting accuracy. Lead budgeting processes, financial analysis, forecasting efforts, and variance analysis to support dealership objectives. Ensure timely processing of payroll and manage related tax filings in compliance with local regulations. Collaborate with external auditors during audits and facilitate audit readiness by maintaining organized records. Experience Proven experience in corporate or governmental accounting within the automotive or dealership sector is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of
GAAP, SOX
compliance standards, and regulatory reporting requirements. Demonstrated expertise in financial report writing, account reconciliation, balance sheet management, and cash flow analysis. Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or equivalent financial management tools. Familiarity with non-profit accounting practices is a plus but not mandatory. Excellent understanding of technical accounting concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis. Ability to interpret complex financial data accurately while communicating findings clearly to stakeholders. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; capable of managing multiple priorities efficiently.
