Job Description
The Detailer is responsible for the thorough cleaning, detailing, and presentation of dealership-owned vehicles. This role ensures all vehicles meet high-quality appearance standards for display and delivery. The Detailer also supports operational efficiency by maintaining cleaning supplies, keeping work areas organized, and identifying any vehicle issues that require mechanical attention. Key Responsibilities Vehicle Cleaning & Detailing Perform complete interior and exterior detailing of dealership vehicles. Conduct deep interior cleaning, including vacuuming, shampooing carpets and upholstery, cleaning dashboards, vents, consoles, and removing stains or odors. Wash, dry, and polish vehicle exteriors using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment. Clean windows, mirrors, wheels, tires, and trim to ensure a showroom-ready appearance. Apply protective treatments such as wax, sealants, or interior protectants as needed. Inspection & Reporting Inspect vehicles during the detailing process for any visible damage, wear, or mechanical concerns. Promptly report any issues requiring repair or maintenance to the appropriate department (e.g., service or management). Ensure vehicles are properly staged and ready for sale or delivery. Inventory & Supplies Management Monitor and manage inventory of cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment. Notify management when supplies need to be reordered to avoid workflow disruptions. Properly store and handle all chemicals and materials in accordance with safety guidelines. Work Area Maintenance Maintain a clean, organized, and safe detailing workspace at all times. Follow all company safety procedures and environmental guidelines. Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and stored after use. Qualifications Previous experience in automotive detailing preferred but not required. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Basic knowledge of vehicle components is a plus. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Work Environment Primarily based at an auto dealership. Work involves exposure to cleaning chemicals, water, and vehicle equipment. Vehicles handled are dealership-owned only; no customer-owned vehicles are serviced in this role. Performance Expectations Consistently deliver high-quality, showroom-ready vehicles. Maintain efficiency while meeting daily detailing targets. Demonstrate accountability in reporting vehicle issues and managing supplies.
