Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Join the team at Reynolds Community College as an Automotive Program Specialist and play a key role in connecting students with exciting career opportunities in the automotive industry. This dynamic position is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with regional automotive dealerships to identify workforce needs and create meaningful employment opportunities for students. The position coordinates recruitment efforts by connecting students with dealership partners and serves as the primary liaison between employers and the department chair to ensure clear communication regarding employer expectations, student readiness, and program alignment. Responsibilities also include monitoring and communicating student performance, attendance, and professionalism to employer partners, as appropriate, while reinforcing program standards and expectations. The individual will track placement outcomes, employer feedback, and student progress to support continuous program improvement and data-driven decision-making. In addition, the role organizes employer engagement activities such as site visits, guest speakers, hiring events, and advisory input sessions, while also supporting students with job readiness activities including resume development, interview preparation, and workplace expectations in collaboration with faculty. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of automotive industry workforce needs, dealership operations, and career pathways. Strong relationship-building and communication skills to effectively engage employers, students, and academic leadership. Demonstrated ability to serve as a liaison between industry partners and the department, aligning workforce needs with program outcomes. Organizational and project management skills to coordinate employer partnerships, student placements, and related activities. Demonstrated ability in sound judgment, professionalism, and a student-centered approach, including the ability to handle sensitive information and support student job readiness.
Additional Considerations:
Working in automotive or related field. Experience with automotive repair industry.
