Job Description

Who We Are Karl Chevrolet is a family-owned dealership that has been part of the New Canaan community for nearly 100 years. We're not a big-box auto group — we're a tight-knit team where your work is seen, your growth is supported, and your contributions genuinely matter. Our service department is the backbone of this business, and we invest in the people who run it. Who You Are We're looking for a motivated Level C technician who is early in their career and eager to grow. This role is ideal for someone who has solid foundational skills, wants to work alongside experienced technicians every day, and is ready to build toward GM certification and beyond. If you take pride in your work and want to be part of a shop with real mentorship — not just a number on a dispatch board — this is the place. What You'll Do Perform oil changes, tire rotations, brake service, multi-point inspections, and routine maintenance. Complete battery replacements, fluid services, filter and wiper replacements, and minor repairs. Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and clearly document findings to support your service advisor. Work alongside senior technicians and learn from hands-on experience with complex diagnostics and repairs. Accurately document all work performed — if you did it, write it up. Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow all shop safety standards. What You Bring High school diploma or GED; technical school training is a plus. Valid Connecticut driver's license with a clean driving record. At least 1 year of hands-on automotive experience (dealership experience a plus, not required). ASE certification or active pursuit of certification preferred. Strong work ethic and a genuine desire to keep learning. Comfortable asking questions, communicating clearly, and being a team player. Detail-oriented — you do the job right and you document it properly. What We Offer Competitive hourly pay, commensurate with experience and certifications. Company-sponsored health insurance (medical, dental, and vision) — Karl Chevrolet covers 75% of your medical premium. Paid time off and paid holidays. 401(k) Retirement Plan with generous company match. Real mentorship from experienced, long-tenured technicians.
Clear path to advancement:
Level C → Level B → Level A, with GM certification support at every step. Monthly performance visibility so you always know where you stand and how to improve. A stable, family-oriented work environment where loyalty and effort are recognized. We've been doing this for nearly 100 years because we take care of our people and our customers. Our technicians aren't left to figure things out alone — we have senior techs who genuinely mentor, a management team that communicates openly, and a culture built on mutual respect. We're growing our service department and actively investing in the people who want to grow with us. #IND1
